I think the glowing letters would work really well on a CG pumpkin. But the real pumpkin and the overlayed letters looks too fake i think. What about making 3d text in Illustrator. you could turn off the front layer so you just saw the sides or the depth of each character then you could turn up the perspective value and place these letter on the pumpkin so that the inside walls are apparent. it would take some work but i think it would really take this up a notch. I'm not sure how much time you have to devote to this.

what would be really sweet if you actually carved a pumpkin with the logo, and then took a picture. But then finding a pumpkin this early might be a challenge. But if you must photoshop it, Pumpkins are usually at least an inch thick, and really textured inside. The logo is really clean to look like it's a carved pumpkin.
